OVERVIEW

The goal of this conference is to increase the participant’s knowledge of current advances in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease with an emphasis on both interventional and non-interventional modalities.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This annual premier event features local and nationally recognized faculty and focuses on the specific needs of those in primary care, internal medicine, family practice, and general cardiology.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review the relevance of the core elements of Accountable Care Organizations under health reform legislation.

  • Summarize the implications and the impact of health care reform legislation on provider services.

  • Apply evidence-based guidelines and quality measures to assess the current data concerning percutaneous aortic valve therapies.

  • Assess current treatment options for symptomatic and asymptomatic hyponatremia in the CHF patient.

  • Delineate key decision factors affecting referral of the CHF patient to a CHF specialist.

  • Interpret the ACC/AHA Guidelines for treatment of patients with refractory end-stage heart failure.

  • Summarize the results and treatment implications of landmark cardiovascular clinical trials.

  • Conduct a history and physical exam associated with stages of PAD—including asymptomatic disease, intermittent claudication, and critical limb ischemia in order to determine the appropriate coordination of care.
