Dr. de Lemos is the director of the Coronary Care Unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He is a member of the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Ischemia/Infarction (TIMI) research group, and is an associate with the Donald W. Reynolds Clinical Research Center. He has research interests that include the management of the acute coronary syndromes and acute myocardial infarction. His recent work has focused on the role of statin agents in patients with acute coronary syndromes; electrocardiography as a means of assessing the coronary microcirculation after thrombolysis or percutaneous coronary intervention; and novel biomarkers for prognostic assessment among patients with acute coronary syndromes, including B-type natriuretic peptide.

Dr. de Lemos graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. He completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and served on the faculty of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School before moving to the UTSW Medical School.

He sees patients with a broad range of cardiac problems, but specializes in those with chest pain and coronary artery disease.
